Day 9 - Down to the City

Immagine
On Sunday I set my alarm quiete early, I really wanted to don't waste the hotel. We had a dinner prepared by the staff of the B&B eggs on toast, banana pancakes, juice and coffee. We left our backpacks at the receptions and went off to discover Lagoon beach and White Sand Beach. Both of them were incredible.  Now, Padang Bay it's where ferries to Gili Island and some other Islands arrives and departs, the village itself is beautiful as most of the villages in Bali, but the beach of the bay  is very dirty and is a shame how bad is kept.  As soon as you get out from Padang Bay you can find incredible beaches. Which are full of Warung that do food on the beach.  After we checked out both of the beaches we decided to stay in White Sand Beach having our last beautiful lazy morning in the area.  In the early afternoon after a few jumps in the water we came back to B&B to collect our belongings and wait for our taxi driver.  You...

Our friends rented a beautiful villa in Amed and the morning we woke up early just to have a last walk in Ubud before our driver Johan would come to get us. Something that I REALLY  have to mention to you is the Art Market in Ubud, which is absolutely spectacular. You can find anything there and if you can bargain you can get good prices as well without bankrupt the people from there. They will always try to get the highest price for you. Just be clever and think about what you can spend there, but think about them as well. Ubud it was incredible, one of the best places I've ever been at. Made and Putuh made it spectacular, with their warm welcoming and Putuh amazing breakfasts it was really hard and sad to leave.  When Johan arrived we said goodbye to each other with the promise to meet again and spend some more time with them, they stayed in the garden hugged one to the each other until when we left and lost sight of them! I'm sure I will come back it's a p...

Day 4 - 5 / Believe it or not! Uber!

The more the holiday goes the harder is to keep track of the posts! Our flatmate Alex and us met in Ubud on Tuesday night. We ate at a wonderful place called Bebek Bengil were their speciality is the duck. The dinner was gorgeous and we enjoyed talking about our mutual adventures in Bali. For the next day we decided to organise a trip to go up the north and see Pura Ulun Danu Beratan which is a temple located on the lake Danau Beratan and the Sekumpul Waterfall.  So, now, getting Uber here is not impossible, but you have to be very cleaver with who you are calling. People are scared to show they work for Uber, because the other taxi drivers they can have repercussions on them; we ordered a cab the next morning and as soon the taxi driver arrived we agreed to turn off the Uber GPS and having him taking us around at an hourly pay.   Deal was done. In the car we started bombing him with questions about the Indonesian culture and religion and he was so patient and clear...

Day 1 I used to roll my eyes when kids sat next to me

How filled was this day! So many emotions in such a short frame of time! We left Sydney evening, to the airport once aboard my first thought was hoping not to have a mum with her yelling and crying kid next to me.  I had this negative thoughts just because our flight to Melbourne it was filled with crying and yelling kids and it was so hard to get some sleep. What happened next completely changed my mind and point of view. Sue and Milly her 9 months old daughter sat right next to me. As soon as she did she probably noticed my expression ( which wasn't intentional at all) and she asked me sorry in such sweet way that has made me feel like an horrible monster without soul. In this way I shared my time with them two cuddling the babe when her mom Sue needed to pick something from her bag and talking to her mum who drove me through an Australia I did not expect to be so cold and terrible.  She asked me questions about my own country, Italy and then she gave me certain shocki...

Day 2 - paradise

Bali is paradisiac I've never been in such a place! The airport was the first thing I've noticed to be extremely Balinese style. The whole building is absurdly beautiful all filled with statues and plants, it looks like being in the middle of an industrial massive jungle, with plane as birds.  One thing I totally love is to travel at late night, so I can go to my hotel, fell asleep and woke with thousands expectations and very positive energy! Discovering a new world around me ! Johan our friend's driver come and picked us up welcoming us in super warm Balinese way!  We talked for a little during the journey, both my Francesco and I were really tired. Johan explained us few things about his yet to discover beautiful island, he recommended us where to go, giving us tips for trips around Bali! After a short drive we arrived at the Hotel that I've booked the previous day, in a total rush, realising I didn't book anything for the first night. I thought it was goi...

Day 0 - time to pack

Is time to start packing! Eventually after 5 months of work and life in Sydney, we are ready to start to get ready for our first long trip! I'm beyond excited. I've been dreaming about Bali since always. Probably, what made me the most dreamin about was the book from Elizabeth Gilbert, "Eat, Pray & Love", consequently the movie had a strong impact on me too, in such a way that I was looking very forward to visit Bali sooner or later. And now ? I'm finally ready to go. It will be such a great experience I'm sure! I can actually say that I've never been in Asia before and Indonesia will be on our list! Our first stop will be Darwin though, we decided to fly there and get the connection at night. Our first flatmate her, Evan told us that in Darwin you can get a closer look on what the Australian society looks like. We'll see. I've got so many great expectations for the coming days, also our last holiday was in Dominican Republic. I guess it w...
